"Stuff"

If you are looking for a library copy of Inappropriate Sleepover, the libraries where you can check one out/get it through interlibrary loan (that I know of) are the Iowa State University library (Parks Library), the Ames (Iowa) Public Library, and the Williamsburg (Iowa) Public Library. Of course, it can still be ordered from the press, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc.

This past week, the Octagon Center for the Arts started selling copies of Inappropriate Sleepover. It's cool to have copies of the book in such a lovely space.

Over a week ago, I found out that my second full length manuscript Butter Sad was a semi-finalist in the Press 53 competition. Butter Sad has been a finalist or semi-finalist five times now. I'm glad various presses are connecting with it.

On May 3rd, I will be reading at the Taproom Poetry Series in Lawrence, Kansas with the wonderful Jennifer L. Knox.

I'm reading in Minneapolis in less than two weeks.

Things have been so busy lately that I feel a little bit like this.

Minneapolis Reading (& Other Stuff...)

I will be reading in Minneapolis on Saturday, October 18th at Five Watt Coffee. I'm reading in the Espresso Yrself reading series which is curated by Katrina Wollet and Patrick Stephenson. (I actually read at their first event about two years ago.) I'm really excited for this reading. Eliese Goldbach will be there from Ohio, and Minneapolis writers Brian Beatty and Ashley Cardona will be reading as well.

I've been writing some new poems. (Slowly, but surely.) This week I had conferences with my students. (I have 96 students this semester.) My brother is getting married on September 27th. I'm getting settled at my new place. I took these pictures last Sunday.

Updates... Various...

About a week and a half ago, I found out Butter Sad (my second full length manuscript) made it to the next round in the Able Muse Book Award for Poetry contest, which is flattering.

One of the wonderful librarians at the Iowa State library (Parks Library) made this webpage with some of my poems/journal publications.

Things are busy...

The summer issue of Anthem Journal is out now. You can read my poems here and here.

My two pieces that are forthcoming in the fall issue of Anthem Journal are somewhat related to my poems in Nashville Review, especially this one.

I start teaching on Monday. I start moving into my new place on Labor Day.

I'm reading in Minneapolis on Saturday, October 18th. Reading in Miami at some point, but I don't know the date yet.

Dressing Room Poetry Journal (Issue Nine)

The new issue of Dressing Room Poetry Journal is out now. Issue Nine features poetry by Michael Albright, Ashley Cardona, Chris Crittenden, John Dorsey, Chelsea Eckert, Molly Fuller, Jennifer MacBain-Stephens, Kenneth Pobo, and Claudia Serea. The issue also includes an interview with Kristina Marie Darling by Genevieve Jencson and an interview with Blake Lee Pate and Taylor Jacob Pate about the SUNCHILD Reading Series.

Fall 2014

I start teaching at ISU on Monday, August 25th. I was originally scheduled to teach three courses, but I was recently asked if I wanted to teach a fourth class so I am now teaching an additional section of English 250.

I start moving into my new apartment on Monday, September 1st (Labor Day).

I've been writing some new pieces.

My brother is getting married in late September.

I will be in Minneapolis for a weekend this fall. (Probably in October.)

The next issue of Dressing Room Poetry Journal will be out soon.
